Pearson Mathematics

Australian Curriculum

Pearson Mathematics was developed by Pearson Australia for the Australian Curriculum. The series was large, complex and had multiple components. Nikki M Group provided:

  • typesetting
  • illustration
  • proofreading
  • production for print
  • conversion to HTML.

The series included:

  • 8 student books
  • 4 teacher companions
  • 4 conversions to HTML
  • components for Pearson Reader.

The huge scale of this series required us to continually deliver each component on time as part of a production process that included a team of writers and developers.

Transition to digital

During the development of Pearson Mathematics, tablet computers were released and new technologies came to market. This meant that new digital versions of the products became essential.

After completing the print titles, Nikki M Group converted four student books to HTML for student access over the Internet. We converted the 600+ page student books using a combination of programs including:

  • FrameMaker
  • InDesign
  • Dreamweaver
  • Illustrator
  • Photoshop.

Technologies included:

  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript
  • MathJax.

Considering the immense task of converting the titles—mapping styles, exporting artwork and composing—we made the conversion with accuracy.

The demand for digital access to these titles signified a real shift in demand for publishers.
